I am honored to
have my husband, Pastor Hank Davis, authoring today's manna.
Numbers 13:33 "And there we saw
the giants...and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers and so we were
in their sight!"
Remember the story? God's people had spent 400 years in Egypt, in
bondage. Ten plagues later, God brings four million people out in one
day. Forty days later, Moses, being democratic, sends twelve spies
(representing twelve tribes) into the Promised Land. They all came back
with the report, all God had promised was there. It was land full of
substance and blessing - milk and honey. Unfortunately, ten spies
complained, "the giants are too big to hit"; Joshua and Caleb declared,
"they are too big to miss". The vote of the majority changed what
should have been a four-day march into a forty-day wandering.
Ignoring your giants (marriage issues, financial challenges, parental
responsibilities, people problems, etc...), does not make your giants go
away. Remembering the ten plagues, the parting of the Red Sea, water
flowing out of rocks, manna falling from Heaven, reminds us that "Greater
is He that is in us than He that is in the world!" David, too, fled
when He first saw Goliath, then he remembered the bear and the lion and
found the courage to face his giant. Forty years later, Caleb went back
to His mountain, killed his giant, and proved to the world, "If God
be for us, who can be against us?".
Don't let a four-day war turn into a forty-year trek. Face your giants,
knowing that your God is in control. Good thoughts, good plans He has for
you!
