The mind reels at the possibilities that God's wonderful works (His
plan and purposes for all of our days) are too numerous for us to list.
The paradox is that in spite of that revelation, we often find ourselves
believing our best days are behind us. What is the solution? In our
world, we often send explorers into unchartered territory to inform us
about that which we do not understand or know. Columbus was sent to the
Americas; Lewis and Clark to the Pacific Northwest; and Neil Armstrong
to the surface of the moon. So, who do we send to explore the mind of
God? According to the Word of God, the wisest among us does not even
have a chance on the surface of the unsearchable mind of the Living God.
So how do we comprehend and assimilate into our thinking His plans for
us that are too numerous to list? In I Corinthians 2:11, the Message
Bible identifies the explorer this way, "The spirit, not content to
flit around on the surface, dives into the depths of God, and brings out
what God planed all along-and lets us in on it". Amazing! Not only
does the Spirit know the thoughts of God but He actually wants to let us
in on those thoughts as well! He wants us to exchange our limited way of
thinking for God's immeasurable thoughts until we see the future as God
sees it, living confident in the light of that revelation. Only then
will we anticipate the possibilities of His wonderful works: Those
remarkable interventions that surpass what man could have anticipated,
things that could have only been done by God.
"Many, Oh Lord my God, are Your
wonderful works which you have done; and Your thoughts toward us cannot
be recounted to You in order. If I were to declare and speak of them,
they are more than can be numbered." Psalms 40:5 |
