Have you ever said something in a moment of fear, anger or sorrow that you wish
you had not said? I am confident that a resounding Yes would be your answer.
Regardless of our remorse, we must remember the power of life and death lives in
the tongue. A powerful illustration of this is found in the greatest comeback
story of all time. It began on a day when the sons of men and Satan came before
the Lord. A conversation originated in which Job was the point of interest.
God's words of noble faith in Job, opposing Satan's disbelieving accusations
toward Job. The aftermath was a historical and immense battle for the evidence
of Job's faith. In the heat of the battle, losing all her children and possessions, Job's wife
decreed those famous five words, "Job, curse God and die". Not one of us condemn
her for her anguish or sorrow, how could we? Her emotions were equal to the
unbelievably painful devastation she was experiencing. However, what she didn't know was that she was speaking the very language of
Satan. Those were the very words that Satan said to God about Job, "He will
curse you to your face". Amazing! She was provoked, and tempted to say something
that would cause Job to follow a course that had been set by the enemy. What
she didn't know was that God had a set timetable to favor Job and bless
him in ways he couldn't imagine. Had Job followed her words, generations
would have missed the geatest story of divine reversal man has ever
known. We must ask ourselves, what story is God writing throughout the
lives of those around us? What destiny could we be saving with the power
of our words? Are we speaking the language of Satan to derail destiny or
speaking God's language that empowers others to follow their course of
destiny? Words are powerful, use them wisely....Speak Life!
"A gentle tongue, with its healing
power, is a tree of life, but willful contrariness in it breaks down the
spirit." Proverbs 15:4
