Along the journey of your life, one thing has remained constant. Someone has continually sacrificed for you. Possibly, it was a teacher who considered your life valuable enough to educate you above your level of competency. Or maybe a friend who stood "shoulder to shoulder" with you when life nearly knocked you off your feet. What about the parent who put his or her dream on hold to make sure you fulfilled yours? Consider the pastors, mentors, and spiritual leaders in your life that opened their hearts to you that you might spend eternity in the presence of a loving God.

Unfortunately, sacrifice doesn’t always yield its rewards within a comfortable time frame. Sacrifice takes years to complete its run across home base. Sacrifice goes unnoticed until the moment of realization comes to full bloom inside of the heart of the one sacrificed for. Today, our government pauses to remember the sacrifices of our military. It is hard to wrap our mind around the concept that these men and women would give their lives for our peace, security, and for our freedom. Today, let sacrifice have its full effect on you, by taking a moment to honor someone that has personally sacrificed for you. Above all, may we find courage, because of the sacrifices of others, to follow in their footsteps, changing lives…one person at a time.

“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed.”  John 3:16 The Message Bible
