"Paris Hilton becomes Mormon-Marries Paparrazi”

Does that statement sound as bazaar to you as it did to me? It was the subject title of a recent email I received.  Obviously, the outlandish title was intended to entice readers to open the email. However, as I am sure you can relate, it had the opposite affect on me. The foolish title signaled to me this is FALSE, you don’t have time for this…this is NOT something you want to read.

If only our enemy, Satan, played the game the same way. However, his lies do not always sound so outlandish to us. In fact, they ironically match our feelings, our circumstances, and the thoughts battling our minds. The enemy’s lies even seem "logical" for a moment.

What lies? I am confident you would be better at filling in the blanks because you know what you are facing in this season of your life. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to us and labeled Him, "The Spirit of Truth". The choice is ours. Do we open the lies of the enemy embracing the outlandish statements? Or do we listen to the truth of the Spirit? His truth, at first, seems illogical to us. Why? Because He speaks contrary to our unreliable emotions, He opposes the barrage of thoughts that speak fear and doubt, He stands against the pain and pressure of circumstances that attempt to choke out our faith.

My prayer for you is that the enemy’s lies to you will be as easily recognized and identified as the ridiculous SPAM emails you receive. Reject them, delete them, have nothing to do with them! You don’t have time for them! I repeat they are NOT something you want to read! Only God’s undeniable, unconquerable, undisputed truth…sets us free!

“And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.” John 8:32 NLT
