“The beginning of anxiety is the end of faith, and the beginning of true
faith is the end of anxiety.” –George Mueller
Anxiety is usually the result of focusing on the
"what ifs" of life - the worst-case scenarios of life that we often
focus on that lead us into the torment of worry and fear. Kim Reichhelm,
a name synonymous with the sport of extreme snow skiing was asked, "How
do you keep from crashing into the trees?". Her answer was simple, "I
keep my eyes on the spaces between the trees." Instead of focusing on
what she didn’t want to hit, Kim focused on where she wanted to go.
Wow, what an inspiring principle for us to live by as believers. What if
we focused more on where we want to go instead of all the things that
seem to be in our way? What if we set our eyes on the path between those
obstacles? The path that is filled with His blessings, protection, and
provision, as outlined in His written Word that is securely ours for the
taking. What if the worst thing never happens? What if God sends
something great, something you never dreamed could happen, what if you
anticipated the supernatural intervention of God? The journey would sure
be sweeter and your arrival at your final destination certain indeed.
Simply because you learned to "think” between the trees.
"... Make
up your mind not to worry beforehand." Luke
